Visitor Tips and Policies

To protect the art and to secure an undisturbed visit of our exhibitions we kindly ask our visitors to comply with the following rules:

  • Behave in a way that no exhibit will be harmed. Trespassing of pedestals, leaning on display cases and touching exhibits is prohibited. Visitors are liable for any damages caused by improper behaviour.

  • We kindly ask for reasonable and calm demeanor.

  • No food or beverages are allowed inside the exhibition. It is strictly forbidden to drink or eat inside the exhibition.

  • Taking pictures is only allowed by permission of the director.

  • Mobile phones, mp3 players and the like have to be turned off.

  • Before entering the exhibition halls bulky items of all kinds, umbrellas, wet clothing, voluminous jackets and coats as well as bags bigger than 25 x 35cm and photo and film equipment have to be left at the cloakroom during your visit.

  • We do not assume any liability for the loss of objects of value or personal belongings left in the lobby / entrance hall. (clothing, umbrellas etc.)

  • The orders of our staff have to be fully complied with. The presence of the museum’s supervisory staff does not relieve parents, teachers or supervisors of groups from their liability and duty of supervision for children and teenagers.

  • School classes or large groups are only admitted after registering in the office (Tel. +49 (0) 6151 . 132808 and receiving an affirmation of the appointment. Groups of students under age have to be accompanied by two adults.

  • Baby carriages may not be taken into the exhibition halls. They pose a high risk, especially for exhibits hung low or placed on pedestals, especially at times of high visitor frequency. We provide buggies for small children free of charge. Babies have to be carried in one's arms. Toddlers must be accompanied and supervised by their legal guardians.

  • Visitors violating our site rules may - notwithstanding further measures - be expelled from our exhibition halls.
