The exhibition
October 3rd, 2021 – February 27, 2022
In autumn 2021, the Institute Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt celebrated the 150th birthday of architect, designer and spatial artist Albin Müller. The exhibition in the Artists’ Colony Museum emphasized Müller’s reciprocal professions as an artist-designer and teacher in Magdeburg and Darmstadt (1900–1914). In addition to his designs for architecture and spatial art, selected furniture pieces as well as exquisite decorative artworks were presented, which were created in cooperation with circa 25 manufacturers. In a varied compilation of works from the Darmstadt Municipal Art Collection as well as loans from public and private collections, the strong links between the cities of Darmstadt and Magdeburg as centers of the reform movement in Germany were illustrated.
